Elk Meat Recipe Ideas from Willow Ranch Outfitting
Now that some of you are at home and have a delicious elk in your freezer, I would like to recommend some of our favorite elk recipes, straight from our Montana Kitchen.
The first (and our favorite) are Jalepeno Poppers These are sure fire crowd pleaser and everytime we make them at parties or gatherings, they are gone before I can get them on to a platter.
First, take out some of your elk steaks, nothing valuable, round steaks are my favorite. Quantities are entirely up to --- how big is your crowd?
Ingredients:
- elk round steak
- package of bacon
- package of cream cheese
- jar of sliced jalepenos
- tooth picks
First lay half strips of bacon out on a cookie sheet. Second, cube into bite size pieces the cream cheese and round steak. Third place bite size pieces of cream cheese and steak, with one slice of jalepeno onto each strip of bacon. Fourth wrap the bacon around the cream cheese, steak and jap. Use the toothpick to hold it together Have your oven warmed up to 350 degrees. Bake in the oven for 30 minutes or until bacon is cooked to that beautiful golden brown.
Pull the poppers out and feed them to your salivating crowd immediately.
Warning they go fast so make sure that you have secured a few for your enjoyment. |
