Plan your 2010 Elk Hunting and Fly Fishing Adventures

With the change from Christmas into New Years we begin to start planning for the next Montana elk hunting season.

This is the time of year when we start the preparations for  the 2010 season of elk hunting in Montana.  This is the fun game of logistics planning for how many hunters, how many horses, and how many guides we will need.

We have a unique situation in our elk hunting camp in the Lee Metcalf Wilderness.  We have a very large number of resident elk, in which is a large population of bulls, most of which are trophy size and would look great on your wall, provided your wife allows it....

Many outfitters have only 1000 head of elk to conduct their hunt, we are fortunate to be right in the middle of the migratory herd of elk that moves from the corner of Yellowstone National Park.  Because of this premier location,  we are hunting with close to five times that many elk.

As our season is starting now, this is when you should be making your decision as to with whom and where you will be hunting for 2010.  Shop around, talk to different outfitters.  Make sure they are upfront about success rates, what is included, and that you get along with the outfit you choose.  One week in an elk camp can be a long time if you don't  like the personalities of your guides and camp staff.

We offer a very comfortable wilderness camp to make you feel right at home from day one.  Our food is something that we take great pride in - you'd never know you were dozens of miles from civilization.  Our pure-bred Norwegian Fjord horse stock are all very calm and dependable; which means that you will not have to worry about your horses when you go for a ride before day light.

As well as elk hunting we offer unsurpassed full service fly fishing adventures in Montana.  We also offer summer horse pack trips for your family in the the wilderness.  Whether by boat or horseback, we have many world class lakes and rivers to chose from in Montana.

The mighty Yellowstone river, the longest free flowing river in the lower 48 states, is right in our backyard.  In Southwest Montana there are also multiple blue ribbon spring creeks, including: Depuys, Armstrong, O'Hair, and Nelsons.  We have Yellowstone National park which has more trout fishing in itself than most any state east of the Mason Dixon line.  One of our favorite rivers is the mighty Missouri, where there are just too many fish to be caught to even make it fair!  Don't forget the Boulder River out of Big Timber, Montana, and the Stillwater based out of Columbus, Montana.  We could go on and on.  The hardest part about fly fishing in Montana is deciding where to go.

We customize your  hunting, horseback or fly fishing trip so that you can take full advantage of what Montana has to offer.  Yellowstone National Park, Custers Battle Field, many buffalo jumps, Native American historical sites - there is so much to see in Big Sky Country. A trip with Willow Ranch Outfitting is a great family friendly experience.

They don't call Montana "The last best place" for nothing!
