Western Extreme and the Outdoor Channel come to Willow Ranch Outfitting

The producers and hunters from the Outdoor Channel's Western Extreme were in our montana elk hunting camp during Archery Season of 2009.  After several months of waiting for the footage of our wilderness elk hunt in the Gallatin and Beaverhead National forest, snuggled in the Lee Metcalf wilderness, it has arrived!
The Western Extreme show with Jim Burnworth and Ray Bunny features big game hunting all over the world. The show with Willow Ranch is scheduled to air the weeks of March 1 and May 10. Air times are at EST Mondays at 7:30AM & 11:00PM, Thursdays at 1:00PM & Saturdays at 9:00PM.  Set your TiVo now to see this incredible montana elk hunt.

Elk hunting in Montana was at its finest.  This was a guided archery hunt montana in Willow Ranch Outfitters wilderness camp in the Taylor Hilgards region of the Lee Metcalf wilderness.  For six days Peter Howell and the Western Extreme team were bull elk hunting.  We had many encounters every day and had a blast filming the hunt with this incredible group of artists and hunters.

The first day we bugled in more than five bull elk, taking a great 290 class bull that evening with Jim Burnworth.  Ray Bunny and Peter Howell, co-owner operator of Willow Ranch Outfitting, called in two bulls for Jim around 3:30 in the afternoon.  With 10 minutes or so of calling Jim let the feathers fly and arrowed himself a great bull.  We got to hear Jim Burnworth's famous line, "Bull Day Gentlemen, Bull Day!"

Minutes after this Jim's 6x6 bull was taken we had another bull bugling at us.

The rest of the week consisted of us showing the team what Willow Ranch Outfitting had to offer.  We called in on average 4 to 6 bulls a day.  In some special instances on three separate occasions we had three bulls coming in on us at once.  Jim and Ray both said that it was one of the top five elk hunting days they have every had.

We covered a lot of country that week, seeing multiple mountain goats, moose and more elk than we could deal with in a lifetime.

I have lost count of how many bull elk we called in that week.  Most of them are on video which will be released later on in the year on another award winning Outdoor Channel show.   There were a lot of great memories.

We look forward to archery elk hunting with Jim and Ray again next year.

And hope that you can join us as well for a Montana elk hunt.
